Hold a key.
Say it.
It's typed.
NoType turns your voice into clean text in any app: email, chat, documents, the terminal. It's the European take on AI dictation, powered by Mistral's Voxtral speech models and built to keep your voice private.
15 free minutes per account, once. No card needed. macOS and Linux are coming later.
Most people speak about three times faster than they type. AI dictation finally made that practical, but nearly every tool that does it well is built in Silicon Valley and runs on American models.
We think the software that listens to you all day should be built closer to home. So NoType runs on Voxtral, made by Mistral AI in Paris, a state-of-the-art speech model, and it's built independently in Europe.
It does one thing: you hold a key, talk, and let go. Your words land where your cursor is. There are no meeting bots and no "AI workspace", and nothing keeps your recordings around.
European models
Transcription by Mistral's Voxtral, from a French AI lab.
Audio is never stored
Recordings are transcribed and discarded. Only the text comes back.
History is off by default
Keep it on your device, sync the text to your account, or keep nothing at all.
How it works
Three motions. No new habits.
Hold
Press and hold Right Ctrl in any app. A small pill with a live waveform shows you're recording. You can change the shortcut in Settings.
Speak
Talk the way you normally would. Changed your mind? Press Esc and nothing is sent.
Release
Let go and the text is pasted right where your cursor is. Your clipboard is put back afterwards.
The details
Small app. Big difference.
Works in every app
If it has a text cursor, you can talk into it: Outlook, Slack, Word, VS Code, your browser, even a terminal.
Speaks your languages
Voxtral picks up the language you speak, so you can switch between languages without touching a setting.
Light on your machine
A native tray app. Nothing runs in a window while you're not talking, so it won't slow your laptop down.
Private by default
Audio is never stored and history is off until you turn it on. Transcription runs securely through our server.
Personal dictionary
Teach dictation your names, acronyms and jargon, with spelling corrections shared across your devices.
Accurate and fast
Voxtral handles names, numbers and punctuation well, and the text usually arrives a moment after you let go.
Pricing
Fair pricing. Nothing hidden.

Questions
Good to know.
How is this different from other AI dictation apps?
It works the same way: hold a key, talk, and polished text appears. The difference is where it comes from. NoType runs on Mistral AI's models instead of American ones, it's built by an independent European team, it never stores your audio, and at €7.99 a month it costs less than most alternatives.
Which platforms are supported?
Windows 10 and 11 today. macOS and Linux versions are on the way.
What happens to my recordings?
Your audio goes to the NoType API, which passes it to Mistral for transcription and returns the text. The audio is never saved. History is off by default. If you turn it on, you can keep it on your device, sync the text to your account, or both.
What if I use up my 15 free minutes?
Your free allowance never resets. Upgrade to Pro for 5 hours a month for €7.99.
How do I subscribe to Pro?
Upgrade from the Subscription page using Stripe. Manage your payment details or cancel your subscription there anytime.
Which languages can I speak?
Voxtral works best in English, French, German, Dutch, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese and Hindi, and it detects the language on its own. It also handles other languages, with varying accuracy.
